Abstract:
This study was designed to test predictions from a model of mental workload. The model predicts that mental workload grows as perceived distance from a task goal increases and the effective time for action decreases.

Hancock, P.A., Vercruyssen, M., & Rodenberg, G. (1992). The effect of gender and time-of-day on time perception and mental workload. Current Psychology: Research and Reviews, 11, 203-225.

Abstract:
Two experiments investigated how S gender and time of day influenced the estimation of duration and the perception of task-related mental workload.

Abstract:
Studies reporting physiological responses as reflections of mental workload are reviewed briefly. The differing measures are located in a two-dimensional space whose axes represent first, practical application and second, relevance to actual central nervous system activity as viewed from spatial and systemic congruence.
