Abstract:
The characteristic of evolution that I advance and illustrate is the convergence of form in systems experiencing common evolutionary forces (see Gould, 1980, for a discussion of comparable convergence patterns in natural evolution).

Abstract:
We define situation awareness (SA) as adaptive, externally directed consciousness. This definition dispels the artificial and contentious division evident in the literature, according to which SA is either exclusively knowledge or exclusively process.
